Service Description: The data included in the GIS Traffic Stations Version database have been assimilated from station description files provided by FHWA for Weigh-in-Motion (WIM), and Automatic Traffic Counters (ATR).The GIS Traffic Stations database provides structural linkages between the National Highway Planning Network Weigh In Motion (WIM), and Automatic Traffic Count Stations (ATR). Location referencing information was derived from the National Highway Planning Network version 4.0. and State offices of Transportation. The dataset provides structural linkages between the National Highway Planning Network Weigh In Motion (WIM), and Automatic Traffic Count Stations (ATR) The attributes on the point elements of the database came from two primary sources, the Station Description Records and the National Highway Planning Network's Linear Referencing System. The attributes for these databases have been intentionally limited to location referencing attributes since the core station description attribute data are contained within the Station Description Tables (SDT). Attribute Description: Functional class; 1 – Rural Principal Arterial – Interstate 2 – Rural Principal Arterial - Other 6 – Rural Minor Arterial 7 – Rural Major Collector 8 – Rural Minor Collector 9 – Rural Local 11 – Urban Principal Arterial – Interstate 12 – Urban Principal Arterial - Other Freeways and Expressways 14 – Urban Principal Arterial – Other 16 – Urban Minor Arterial 17 – Urban Collector 19 – Urban Local On National Highway System? 0 – Section not on the NHS 1 – Section is on the NHS, but is not a NHS intermodal connector 2 – NHS Intermodal Connector - Major Airport 3 – NHS Intermodal Connector - Major Port Facility 4 – NHS Intermodal Connector - Major Amtrak Station 5 – NHS Intermodal Connector - Major Rail/Truck Terminal 6 – NHS Intermodal Connector - Major Intercity Bus Terminal 7 – NHS Intermodal Connector - Major Public Transit or Multi-Modal Passenger Terminal 8 – NHS Intermodal Connector - Major Pipeline Terminal 9 – NHS Intermodal Connector - Major Ferry Terminal Confidence in Data: (Confidence that point was created correctly using the data provided) 1 – Low Confidence 2 – Confident 3 – Highly confident
